Experts say the van insurance market is set to change even more in the next few years. David Nichols, one of the vehicle specialists at Zurich Insurance says there are two key trends are likely to have an effect on the van owners. The first impression is that the car theft figures are falling at large due to far better security and outlying lower resale values. The second trend is the ever-rising number of vans on the road.
More than 300,000 new vans are hitting the streets every year. Many of them include expensive kit which can be sold easily on the black market. Will small vans be more of a target for criminals in the future, is a bigger question today. The experts think that they will – though the jury is out on where the worst of the crime flings will take place. More than surmise that owners in the North East will be most horrible hit.
This is where an above average amount of its theft and nasty damage claims are made. Scotland brings in the lowest figures for the insurer. According to Zurich van drivers in the West Midlands, London and East Anglia face the biggest risks and call in the highest amount of claims. It finds owners in the North East and North West are among the least influenced by van crime.
Self-employed people who use vans every day say it’s not just the monetary side of their businesses that take a hit if they fall victim to a crime. Their repute can also suffer if they have to cancel jobs while they pick up the pieces.
